Happy Glamping

 This past month I purchased the Joy In The Journey panel which is a line from Riley Blake Designs.  I purchased my panel & fabric from The Stitching Room.  I cut the panel pieces into individual blocks and designed a quilt to use these pieces.  The fabric line is a fun one and I do believe I will be keeping this quilt for myself.

Some of the fabrics that I used in this quilt are Joy In The Journey Panel (I used Olive); Joy In The Journey Plaid Charcoal; Gingham Gardens Check Green/My Mind's Eye; Joy In The Journey Floral Charcoal; Cream/Gold polka dot (used in the 9 patch blocks); Joy In The Journey Plaid Coral (used for the binding); and for the backing I used Joy In The Journey Main Olive & pieced it with Gingham Gardens Blossoms Coral.  I did not know exactly how I was going to make the quilt so I used the yardage that I had purchased when I bought the panel.  I love the way it turned out.  It is just a fun quilt.  I call this one "Happy Glamping".  Thought I don't have a Glamper of my own (maybe one day) this just makes me happy.  The quilt measures approximately 55" x 70".  I did an edge to edge pantograph machine quilting pattern called Curlz.

Panel (Olive)

Lavender Fields

 I found this free pattern from Tiny Orchard Quilts.  It is called Fat Quarter Plaid and can be found at free pattern.  The original pattern called for 16 fat quarters to make a 62" x 70" quilt.  However, I wanted to make my quilt just a little bit bigger so I used 20 fat quarters to make a 64" x 90.5" quilt.  This was a fun pattern that worked up very quickly.  It gave me a chance to use the purple/lavender/prints/tone on tone fat quarters that I had purchased for a different quilt.  But you know me, I wanted to try something fun, fast, and using fat quarters.  Et voilà !

I machine quilted this quilt in a meadering Flutterby Loop pattern that I use on occasion.  It definitely worked for me on this quilt.  I backed it with a soft flannel fabric and put the binding on by machine as my hands were cramping from all the machine work.  I called this quilt "Lavender Fields".

Off Road

 A couple of months ago I purchased a quilt pattern called Off-Road by Seriously I think it needs stitches - Kelli Fannin Quilt Designs.  I bought it with the idea of making the quilt for my youngest son who owns a red jeep.  I finished the quilt tonight.

The quilt pattern had very clear instructions.  I did add one more 5" border to make the quilt a bit larger than the original pattern which would finish at 60" x 60".  This one finished at 70" x 70".  I backed the quilt with a cuddle soft grey mottled flannel.  I think I will make another one of these quilts.  It was kind of fun to do something different.  We do have the pattern available at The Stitching Room in Richfield

This would be a great pattern to make a quilt for someone you know who owns a jeep!

I machine quilted this one with an edge to edge pantograph design called "Curls".  I really like the way it turned out.

The only change I made to the pattern was to add

an additional 5" border to make the quilt 70" x 70"

The pattern gave very clear instructions to piece this quilt.

I named the quilt after the pattern - Off Road.

Shooting Stars at Goose Creek

 In one of my new quilt magazines there was an advertisement for a free quilt pattern called Shooting Stars which was designed by Lynne Goldsworthy of lilysquilts.blogspot.com for Paintbrush Studios.

The quilt is made with fabric from the Goose Creek line from Poppie Cotton.  I purchased all fabrics from The Stitching Room in Utah.  I named the quilt "Shooting Stars at Goose Creek" as it incorporates not only the name of the quilt pattern but also the fabric line which I used.  The quilt finishes at approximately 60" x 60".

I machine quilted this with a pale peach thread using an all over stipple free motion pattern.

The Little Engine That Could

 This was a fun little quilt to make.  The Little Engine That Could panel is from Riley Blake where you can also download a free pattern for this quilt.  The quilt measures approximately 59" x 67 ".  The fabric is from the same line as the panel.

I quilted the quilt with an edge to edge free motion loop design and included some words within the panel itself.  I had also bought the 90th edition of the book written by Watty Piper which inspired me to purchase the panel and fabric to make this quilt.  I purchased all fabric from The Stitching Room in Utah

The quilt measures approximately 59" x 67"

Purrfect Dream

 Used the second and last Mystic Cat panel for this quilt.  I had purchased the panels online from Missouri Star Quilt Co.  I designed the surrounding blocks and used some fat quarters that I had on hand.  This was a fun quilt to make.  It turned out to be approximately 64" x 81".  I had bought several yards of the orange/yellow swirl fabric which I had purchased from The Stitching Room in Utah so I used some on the outer border as well as the backing.  I used several of the left over pieces of the fat quarters that I used in the 16 square blocks which I had purchased a few years ago from Connecting Threads in the backing as well.  Sometimes just a touch of black is needed in your projects.

I used black/blue half square triangles in 

the 16 square blocks so that a 

secondary design would be created.

I called this quilt "Purrfect Dream".  I used an

edge to edge quilt design called "Swirls" from

Linda Taylor of  Linda's Electric Quilters

I used the leftover pieces of the fat

quarters in the backing.

All About Plaids

 Finished this quilt today.  The pattern is one from The Original Turning Twenty Just Got Better pattern booklet by Tricia Cribbs.  I used the All-About-Plaids fabric line from Riley Blake.  The border is Charcoal from the Timeless Treasures "Mix" collection.  Plaids & border fabric were purchased at The Stitching Room in Utah which is the quilt/fabric store that I work at part time.

I had a piece of flannel for the backing but was short just a bit so I put a light gray flannel strip between the two cuts of the purple plaid flannel.  Et Voila!  A fabulous soft & warm backing.

The quilt measures approximately 72" x 86".

Now what shall I make for my next project?   **insert giggle**

Since this pattern ends up being half square triangles,

you can set the blocks in many different ways.

I love the false pocket that appeared when I put the tan

plaids together in the center of the quilt top.

Of course the label had to be the name of the fabric line.

Mystic Cat

 I had purchased two panels called "Mystic Cat" so I designed this quilt in order to use the panels.   My initial designs are usually done on Post-It notes as I work each block out.  I will actually create the pattern for this one in a usable format as I have other panels I want to use, together with the remaining "Mystic Cat" panel in my stash.

The quilt finishes at approximately 60" x 76".  I used bright colors that went with the colors in the panel.  All fabrics & batting used in this quilt were purchased from The Stitching Room in Utah with the exception of the panel which I purchased from Missouri Star Quilt Co.

Mystic Cat

 What do you do when your Little Sis falls in love with the new fabric line from Poppie Cotton called Dots & Posies?  Well, you make her a quilt!

The pattern was one I found on a tutorial given by Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Company https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKSm9pBL2qM&t=14s

As Little Sis saw the new fabric line on The Stitching Room in Utah's website, and I just so happen to work there, I was able to get what I needed before we sold alot of the fabric.  And boy, is this fabric going fast!  https://www.thestitchingroominutah.com/

I used a large border on the quilt as the yellow gingham was Little Sis's favorite one in the line.  However, the backing is gorgeous as well.  It has muted polka dots and large roses.  I think Little Sis liked this line because it is reminiscent of country living, soft looking old fashioned prints, AND her middle name is Rose!  Hence the quilt bears her name.  The quilt finished at approximately 67" x 74".

I quilted an edge to edge design that I call "Pin Curls" as it just seemed to fit the vintage looking prints.  I love this quilt and may have to make another one with a different line of fabric.

Hannahberry Bouquet

 This is a Missouri Star Quilt pattern called "Vintage Bouquet".  I loved it when I saw Jenny Doan do the tutorial on it and knew I had to make this quilt.

Blocks are made with Folktale by Lella Boutique for Moda; background is from Kimberbell Basics brown scroll from Maywood Studios; Backing is Contempo's Twilight Eternity Circles from Benartex; and the binding is made from a brown tonal fabric.  All of this fabric was purchased at our local quilt shop (where I happen to work part time).

The quilt finished at approximately 72" x 86".

I had bought the "Orange Peel" die for my Accucut Grand Mark die cutter and was so happy with the results.  This quilt has 504 orange peel (or petal) shapes.  No way was I going to cut those by hand.  I pressed the Wonder Under® interfacing onto the strips, and within a half an hour the shapes were ready to use. (Who doesn't have an empty Christmas cookie tin around to put your project pieces in?)

My granddaughter checked out this project and wanted to help place the orange peel/petals onto the half square triangle blocks.  She did a great job.  I pressed the petals onto all of the blocks.  She is such a great little helper!

Of course the label!  I had to have Hannah's name included

since she helped place many of the orange peels ready

for Grandma B to press on.  I added the berry to her name as I 

was writing a children's story using Hannah's name but the

character is named Hannahberry!
