Cupcakes with Fudge & Breakfast Burritos!

Make Chocolate Hazelnut cupcakes with Chocolate Hazelnut Cream Cheese Buttercream topped off with Strawberry 3 Musketeers Fudge.  What can I say.  I wanted to try something new so why not combine something new with a favorite cupcake recipe?  They will go to work with me in the morning.

Made hubby breakfast burritos for dinner tonight.  I have 14 left to fry up.  Probably take them to work in the morning too.  Have menu done for the week so extra breakfast burritos will not be needed at home.

Started a quilt last night for a friend's daughter.  After pondering what pattern to make, it came to me that since the focus fabric needs to be "up front" I decided on making a simple pattern utilizing 5 different fabric patterns.  Will post photo when it is completed.

Have a great last week of February everyone!  Spring is coming.

Moon Shadows

Recently, I watched yet another wonderful tutorial presented by Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Company.  You can find the Disappearing Pinwheel on their YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rgQd6asPQs.  After searching even more videos I found some wonderful quilters sharing how they put the block pieces together in different ways to make a variety of blocks.  So I did.  Make a variety of block patterns!

I was asked to make a quilt to donate to a benefit that will be held in honor of a local man who passed away after battling cancer.  He was well liked in the community, was the mayor of the small town of Sigurd in our county, and left behind a loving family.  Our local BMX bicyclists will be hosting the benefit.  I do not have alot of details on the benefit but I know this is a wonderful tribute to the Houchin family.

Any way, this is the quilt that I ended up finishing tonight.  I used a layer cake of Moon Shadows by Michele D'Amore for Benartex as the color fabric.  The background is Watercolor Wash-Cream from ConnectingThreads.com as well as the backing which is Wheat Sprigs - Sandstone from the Sun Kissed Harvest by Jenni Calo for ConnectingThreads.com.

I hope whoever wins the quilt at the raffle will forgive me for using a simple machine quilting motif.  I was crunched for time so decided on doing what I call free motion ripples.

The following is an excerpt from the Richfield Reaper (our local newspaper).  See RichfieldReaper.com.
The fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, at the Blackhawk Arena in Salina. It is set to include a benefit BMX bike race at 4 p.m., followed by a dinner at 7 p.m.  Cost for the dinner is $10 per plate.  An auction and drawings for items including rifles, cowboy apparel and a stay at Tavaputs Ranch in the Book Cliffs, are also set to take place at the event.  An account in Houchin’s name has also been established at Mountain America Credit Union.  For more information, contact Brazell at (435) 201-9528, Tanya Harward at (435) 590-5096, Kevin Rasmussen at (435) 201-1699, or Candice Barney at (435) 201-1296.
