The Adventures of Carol Rose

I wanted to make quilts for Hannah's cousins.  I had made one for James when he graduated from high school this past spring.  I found this sweet fabric at the shop & thought of Rosie right away.  She is Hannah's only other female first cousin.  I also made JJ a quilt but it is currently hanging in the shop for display.

I used several pieces of fabric from the Angels line by Patty Basemi for AGF Fabrics Daydream line.  I threw is some other fun fabrics as well.  The border was actually a piece of gifted yardage which I loved with the other fabrics in the quilt.  The binding is from the Goose Creek line from Poppie Cotton.

The quilt finished at approximately 81" x 98".  I quilted it with an all over meandering tear drop shape.  They are different sizes & different shapes and I had a great time quilting this with white thread.

Hannah helped finish sewing the binding on last night.  Special memory making!!!

Finished size 81" x 98"

"The Adventures of Carol Rose".  Rosie's full name
is Carol Rose & I knew this had to be the name of
this quilt.

Some of the fun fabrics used.

Llamas, Foxes, Hedgehogs, little girls, houses, hearts.  What more
do we need?

Changes In Attitude

Finished my version of The Original Turning Twenty Just Got Better quilt by Tricia Cribbs.  I used reds, greys, & blacks to make the half square triangle blocks.  I set it in a different way than in her pattern but since it is essentially half square triangles that allowed me to turn the blocks to create a different pattern.

The quilt finished at approximately 73" x 87".  I backed it with a wonderful striped fabric which I also used in the bias binding.  I named the quilt "Changes in Attitude" because I am a Jimmy Buffet fan (parrot head) & that song just kept playing in my brain as I was machine quilting this quilt.  I used an edge to edge pantograph design called "Inside-Out".  Though a bit nervous in using this design I marked directional arrows on the plastic that covers the pantograph paper to make sure I was following the lines correctly & decided I really liked the design.

This is a great quilt pattern to try if you are an advanced beginner in quilting.  The original Turning Twenty pattern is always fun to do as well.  These patterns work up fairly quickly.

I really like the reds, blacks, & greys in the fabrics.

Of course the label.  I love the bias binding.

This is the Inside-Out edge to edge pantograph.  I stitched
it in dark grey thread with a black/white/grey veriegated
thread on the bobbin.

Jingle Jingle

Finally finished this year's Christmas quilt!  This is the Flower Chain pattern from Missouri Star Quilt Company.  The instructions were very clear and easy to follow.  I used a solid black fabric from Moda as the background; Snowflake Glacier from the Snowed In line by Heather Peterson for Riley Blake Designs for the border & the chain; the teal dot from the Snowed In line for the binding; the flower petals were charm packs called Jingle from Hello My Name Is for Robert Kaufman - I did used another snowman line of fabric in the flowers as there were not enough dark blue charms to make all of the flowers; and the backing was pieced from 2 lines of the Pixie Noel fabric from Riley Blake Designs.

I really like the quilt now that it is completed.  I have a difficult time sewing with dark solid fabrics, but I pushed through and like the results.

I used an edge to edge pantograph from Linda Taylor called Geometric Pinwheel to quilt this project.  I used a variegated thread on the top & a teal on the bobbin.

I named the quilt Jingle Jingle after the charm pack that I used.  I hope you give this pattern a try.  You can find it at Missouri Star Quilt Company Flower Chain.

Have fun working on your holiday projects!
