Purrfect Love

I received a free pattern called "Heart to Heart" from Accuquilt.  It is a wall hanging sized quilt.  However, I added an 8" border, corner blocks with kitty appliques, and made it baby sized.  I love the flannel fabrics.  The kitty fabric was just calling out to me to be in this quilt.  As I am not a traditional quilter, I thought, why not use the kitty flannel & make a bright valentine quilt.  The hearts & the kitty are both die cuts from Accuquilt.  My studio die cutter is one of my favorite sewing tools.  The flannel is so soft & comfy, especially on this cold snowy day.  I used a font on my Babylock Espire sewing machine to make the label.  I really like the "funky" handwritten look on this quilt label.  I hope your week is a good one & that you all have fun with your sewing/quilting projects.  Remember to make someone's day today.

Zebra Print

Well, this is where that bunch of frabric scraps took me.  My goal was to use all of the leftover fabric from the "Sheena" quilt project.  I managed to utilize all but 2 orphan blocks & some 2 1/2" strips.  I called this baby quilt "Little Z".  For those of you who asked, yes it is for sale ($45).  I had great fun putting it together and used the last of the blocks that you saw stacked in my last blog in the backing of this little quilt.  I am now trying to decide what kind of valentine day quilt to make.  Choices, choices, choices.  Just remember to make the right choice and all will be well.  Have a great week!

Meet Mason

The Mason family were cleaning out their stuff & I ended up with several bags of Polyfil & 1 quilt batting.  I had wanted to make a new Teddy Bear pattern so this was the perfect time.  I called him Mason in honor of Teresa & Gary Mason.  His name is embroidered on his vest.  He turned out pretty cute.

Then I thought, what should I do next?  Well, I grabbed my bag of 2" scrappy strips & sewed them together & cut them ready to sew into 4 patch blocks.  Where I take it from there.......we will just have to wait and see.  Enjoy your day.

Doggies

I dedcided for the first week of the new year I would make a soft, snuggly, simple flannel quilt.  I loved the little doggies & the doggie bone flannel.  I had to try one of my new pantograph designs called "Combo".  That was alot of fun to do.  Finally finished the binding this afternoon.  I called the quilt "Doggies", for obvious reasons.  The flannel is very soft and comfy.  Can't wait to start the next project.  So many projects, so little time!  This snowy Saturday makes me want to curl up with the quilt, but I won't.  I'll put it away for someone.  Enjoy this new year and make someone happy along the way.

End of the Year

This past week I set a goal for myself to use some of my new flannel to make 6 baby quilts.  I made 6 baby quilts this past week to end the year 2011.  They were quick projects & I was able to finish binding the last 2 quilts this morning.  Now, I am ready to begin this new year.  I hope this new year brings great joy to all of you.  I am going to challenge myself to make several "donation" quilts before the Summer begins.  I hope you will set a goal for yourself as well.
