Tinsel Town

Received my Make It Christmas with 3 Yard Quilts from Fabric Cafe.  Such fun patterns!  The first one I chose to make was called "Traditions".  I made the Twin size so I needed 2 yards of 3 different fabrics.  I knew I wanted to use some of the Christmas fabric that is called Tinsel Town from the Wishwell Collection from Robert Kaufman that I purchased from The Stitching Room.  Then a shipment of some solid fabrics arrived from Benartex & the Melon color was the perfect one for fabric #2.  If you haven't watched the Fabric Cafe tutorials on YouTube, you may just want to spend a half hour or so and check them out.

This quilt finished at 60" x 84".  It is backed with a white on white cotton fabric & machine quilted with an edge to edge pantograph of Holly & Berries.  I machine bound the quilt as I wanted it done tonight.  Must be the other projects calling out from the sewing room that made me want this one finished.  I have a rule - Cannot start a new project until the last one is completely finished.  So far this works well for me.

Happy Holidays from our home to yours.

Wapiti

This quilt was from a kit that I purchased from Christensen's Department Store in Richfield Utah.  This was ordered by hubby for one of his DNA distant cousins.  I added an outer border to make the quilt a little bigger and I like borders on my quilts. The backing is a tan grunge fabric.

I machine quilted this one in a free motion stipple with Neutral thread color.

The quilt finished at approximately 71" x 83".  Just the right size to snuggle in your recliner on a cold winter day.

I will get this one shipped off soon.

I called this one Wapiti (for obvious reasons)

Oh, The Places You'll Go

This is the "Book Review" pattern from Missouri Star Quilt Co.  It was a fun one to do as I used a layer cake (10" square pack) called Torrington Place by Michelle Yeo for Penny Rose Fabrics.  The border is  Kassita Medallions from 3 Wishes.  The quilt finishes at 73" x 79" and is backed with Minky from Shannon Fabrics.

I remember once being told that in books you can gain knowledge, appreciation for others, travel to worlds seen and unseen, and grow and learn.  When I thought about making this quilt I had a person in mind who has made a positive impact on me & she also loves to read.  She is one of the smartest & most caring women I have had the honor to meet.  She probably doesn't even know what a true light in this world she is.  I only hope this small offering will let her know that what she does and who she is means something to someone.

I hope we all take a moment to thank someone in our lives who has taken time, shared their knowledge, and even for a small moment in time given us encouragement to move forward even when we may not  understand all of the policies & procedures we would need to learn for the job.

For T With Love A

When hubby came to The Stitching Room last week he found the Grand Circle panel from Riley Blake and asked if I would make him a quilt.  He has never asked me to make him a quilt before.  Yes, he has asked me to make them for other people but not for himself.  He then asked if I could fit him in within the next 6 months!  Well I think 2 weeks from design to construction to quilting to binding is a pretty good time frame.  The quilt turned out to be approximately 70" x 78".  Just the right size for him to wrap himself up like a burrito in his recliner during the cold days ahead.

I machine quilted this one with an edge to edge pantograph called "Curlz" from Linda's Electric Quilters.

I really do enjoy designing quilts.  I may not be able to draw worth a hoot but give me graph paper and I just might surprise you (and myself).

Enjoy this one my love.

***I do take orders for quilts and one similar to this would run about $550.***

I really like the flying geese borders that I designed.

I was lucky enough to find just the right fabrics for hubby.

Of course the label had to be my heart.  Love you T.

Oink-A-Doodle-Moo

I purchased a panel called Farm Fresh by Gingiber for Moda fabrics at The Stitching Room in Utah and decided to design a quilt using that panel as well as a Black on Black/White on White Fat Quarter bundle created by The Stitching Room.  I really like the way this quilt turned out.  It finished at about 62" x 62".  I machine quilted it with an edge to edge pantograph called "Pumeria" from  Urban Elementz.  This is my first black & white quilt.  I usually would throw in a little color but decided to do something out of my comfort zone.  Yep, I really like using the black & white fabrics.

I call this quilt "Oink-A-Doodle-Moo" (for obvious reasons).  You just have to have a little fun once in a while.

Now, on to the next project!

Christmas Jamboree

Just completed this fun quilt which I call Christmas Jamboree. It finished at 48” x 58”. I used new fabrics from 3 lines of fabric found at The Stitching Room. This free pattern from Ariga Wilson for Robert Kaufman would be fabulous in other fabric lines as well.  I used fat quarters & yardage. Also used leftovers from the fat quarters for the scrappy binding.

Enjoy the journey!

Celebration Flight

This pattern is called "Take Flight" from Missouri Star Quilt Co.  The flying geese units were all made from half square triangles (HST).  The geese were made from Timeless Treasures Tonga Treats (2 packs of 5" squares).   The blue outer border is Flowery Vines Navy by Kanvas Studios for Benartex.  The fun backing is Celebration from the Quilter's Candy line by Connecting Threads.

I machine quilted this one with an edge to edge pantograph called Funky Feathers from Urbanelementz.  I used a teal blue in the bobbin & a blue veriegated thread on the top.  I will definitely use this quilting pattern again.

My quilt finished at approximately 78" x 83".  Now on to my next project!

Harvest Time

New fabric at The Stitching Room and I knew I had to buy the panel, charm packs, and yardage.  The fabric is called Pumpkin Farm by Painted Sky Studio for Benartex.  The pattern is called "Harvest Time" https://www.benartex.com/fabrics/80V/HarvestTime.pdf and was designed by Heidi Pridemore for Benartex.  I did change the pattern a bit in order to use the charm pack (5" squares) instead of cutting yardage.  It worked out great.  Just adjusted the borders to make it work.  Ask me for my measurements if you would like to do the same.  I am usually at the shop from 10 - 2 Monday, Wednesday, & Friday.

I always do my own quilting, however, Randi Deem, the owner of The Stitching Room traded some work with me and quilted this quilt with a pattern called "Pumpkin Patch".  It is so adorable!  It was a difficult thing to give control over to someone else as I always put 100% of myself into my quilts.  The quilt will hang in the store for a while as a sample.

I had bought 1 yard off of the bolts that we had in stock so I was able to make a patchwork backing.  I hand bound the quilt which finished at approximately 65 1/2" x 84".  I made a cute label for the quilt.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the summer and remember to start on your fall projects as fall is just around the corner.

I just love the panel that goes with this fabric line!

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Commissioned quilt for my youngest Great Niece who loves the Grinch.  The fabric is from Robert Kaufman's "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" line.  The panel pattern is designed by Elise Lea for Robert Kaufman and is a free download on RobertKaufman.

The quilt I made finished at 49" x 62".  This is the second one that I have made, the first one being for The Stitching Room in Utah.  This was a fun fabric line to use.

My Heart Skips A Beat

This is the 4th quilt that I have made using the Turning Twenty Revisited book by Tricia Cribbs.  I taught a class for this quilt  last month at The Stitching Room and this quilt (or should I say the pieces of the quilt) was the one I used in my demonstration.  It is good to have it completed!!

I called this quilt "My Heart Skips A Beat" as I used the darker colors in one section of the lighter colored heartbeat at the top of the quilt.  Sometimes a girl just has to have a little bit of artistic fun.  The quilt finished at approximately 80" x 97".  I machine quilted this with an edge to edge pantograph that was a free download from Quiltingpantographs.com called "Sunflowers for Ukraine.

The fabrics are very eclectic as there are fabrics from 30's reproduction, civil war, and fun prints.  I hope you all take time to have a little bit of fun with your craft.

Here's to the next half of 2022!!

Notice the skipped "heart beat" in the upper left hand
section of the quilt.
