 What do you do when your Little Sis falls in love with the new fabric line from Poppie Cotton called Dots & Posies?  Well, you make her a quilt!

The pattern was one I found on a tutorial given by Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Company https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKSm9pBL2qM&t=14s

As Little Sis saw the new fabric line on The Stitching Room in Utah's website, and I just so happen to work there, I was able to get what I needed before we sold alot of the fabric.  And boy, is this fabric going fast!  https://www.thestitchingroominutah.com/

I used a large border on the quilt as the yellow gingham was Little Sis's favorite one in the line.  However, the backing is gorgeous as well.  It has muted polka dots and large roses.  I think Little Sis liked this line because it is reminiscent of country living, soft looking old fashioned prints, AND her middle name is Rose!  Hence the quilt bears her name.  The quilt finished at approximately 67" x 74".

I quilted an edge to edge design that I call "Pin Curls" as it just seemed to fit the vintage looking prints.  I love this quilt and may have to make another one with a different line of fabric.

Hannahberry Bouquet

 This is a Missouri Star Quilt pattern called "Vintage Bouquet".  I loved it when I saw Jenny Doan do the tutorial on it and knew I had to make this quilt.

Blocks are made with Folktale by Lella Boutique for Moda; background is from Kimberbell Basics brown scroll from Maywood Studios; Backing is Contempo's Twilight Eternity Circles from Benartex; and the binding is made from a brown tonal fabric.  All of this fabric was purchased at our local quilt shop (where I happen to work part time).

The quilt finished at approximately 72" x 86".

I had bought the "Orange Peel" die for my Accucut Grand Mark die cutter and was so happy with the results.  This quilt has 504 orange peel (or petal) shapes.  No way was I going to cut those by hand.  I pressed the Wonder Under® interfacing onto the strips, and within a half an hour the shapes were ready to use. (Who doesn't have an empty Christmas cookie tin around to put your project pieces in?)

My granddaughter checked out this project and wanted to help place the orange peel/petals onto the half square triangle blocks.  She did a great job.  I pressed the petals onto all of the blocks.  She is such a great little helper!

for Grandma B to press on.  I added the berry to her name as I 

was writing a children's story using Hannah's name but the

character is named Hannahberry!

The Cabin on Lovell Lane

 Tom reconnected with the Wood family a couple of years ago.  McKay was his best man at our wedding.  Emma Rae, Mckay's sister, resides in Arkansas in a log cabin.  I wanted to make something special for her & her husband Darrell so of course it had to be a log cabin quilt.  I used tans/browns/blues.  The backing is a soft cuddle flannel.  I machine quilted this quilt with a stipple pattern.  The label had to be bordered with chicken fabric as they raise chickens.  We will get it sent off today. Hope they like it.  It finished at 74 1/2" x 108".  I set the blocks in a starburst pattern.

All You Need Is Love

 Today I finished my All You Need Is Love quilt.  The pattern is called Through Love by Taren Studios.  I chose ombre fabric that goes from light yellow to pink; hot pink; & a vibrant gold/orange.  Though these are not colors that I would normally use, I do like the end result.  The backing is a pink/white stripe from Kimberbell basics.  The binding is scrappy.  The quilt finished at 63" x 72".  The machine quilting is done using a pantograph called Leaves.  All in all I am pleased with this quilt.  And yes it is for sale.

two layers of iron on fleece so that

it looks puffy.  Reminds me of

Sweet Hearts candy.

 I purchased the quilt pattern booklet "The Original Turning Twenty" by Tricia Cribbs last month from The Stitching Room & knew I wanted to make the quilt.  Randi got in some new fabric & I knew I had to use it for this quilt.  The quilt pattern is very easy and I like the impact made with the fabrics.  Yes, there are chicken, farm animal, & tractor prints in this quilt!

The quilt turned out approximately 80" x 96 ".  I quilted it with the Curls pantograph by Linda Taylor.  I used a grey fabric on the border & binding.  I used a Kimberbell basic fabric for the backing.

All A-Buzz

 One of the new panels at The Stitching Room is the Flutter Butterfly panel by Susybee.  I added white borders to the panel as well as bee, butterfly, & dragonfly appliques.  Quilted with the Curls edge to edge design.  Had 2 strips of the backing fabric left so I used those in the binding & added the green polka-dot fabric to make up the rest of the binding.  It is a cute quilt!  Love using panels, especially for baby quilts.  May have to ship this one off for a soon to arrive little one.

Dresden Play

 When you purchase a new sewing/quilting tool it is always good to find the many ways that you can use said tool.  Well, for me it was the Dresden Ruler.  I had a few short 2 1/2" strips left over from my Christmas star quilt so I used them to create the split Dresden blade.   I set the small end of the ruler between one of the 1 inch marks on my cutting mat then put a piece of painters tape on the ruler at the half way mark.  This then became the marking to place on the seam line on two pieces of the fabric strips that I had sewn together.  Thus, this became a split Dresden blade.  I was able to use ALL of the remaining strips from my prior project to create this small quilt which measures about 41" x 41".

I was able to make the large Dresden blade for the center then used two small blades to make the half patterns.  I like the way it turned out.  I didn't do alot of machine quilting on this quilt.  I used a pattern I call Oooppsie Daisy but did not quilt the actual Dresden plates on this quilt.

I also used the very last of the strips in the backing so no wasted fabric!

Magic of The Season

 Finished a Christmas quilt this morning.  The pattern I used was the "Starstruck" pattern by Missouri Star Quilt Company.  The quilt measures 77" x 77".  The stars were made from a jelly roll of Magic of the Season by Lisa Audit of 40 Karat Crystals for Wilmington Fabrics.  The background is a green leaf print that I had several yards of.  The backing & binding were the candy cane stripe fabric.  The binding was sewn on the bias.  I machine quilted the entire quilt with an all over loop pattern.  One of my favorite patterns to use on Christmas quilts.

I named the quilt "Magic of the Season" because that was the fabric print name, but also because I do believe in the Magic of the season.  Yep, I am a sucker for music, movies, and books that share the Christmas season, and yes I do listen, watch, and read them all year long.

A Star Is Born

 I took a quilt class last month at The Stitching Room in Richfield (where I work).  The class was given by Melissa Corry of Happy Quilting.  Her book of baby quilt patterns is call Charming Baby Quilts.  I had the charm pack & used the golden leaf fabric for the background.  I had purchased the background & backing fabric from The Stitching Room.  I love how rich the colors are.

The quilt finishes at about 52 1/2" x 52 1/2".  Melissa also showed us a quilt top she had made from the same pattern using a layer cake (10" squares).  That makes a large quilt!  

I quilted the small triangles with a wonky

spiral; the large gold areas with a loopy swirl pattern;

and the border with straight line stitching.

Oh, Say Can You See

Starting off with a panel is always fun for me.  I had a bundle of the indigo & tan fabric pieces that worked so well with this panel.  The panel was 23" x 42" so I added a small sashing to the sides of the panel in order for it to work with the squares that I had cut out.  When I ran out of the indigo & tan squares I made a design change by making 4 patch blocks with the left over pieces to finish the same size as the indigo & tan blocks.  There you have it!  The finished quilt is approximately 64" x 84".  I backed it with red flannel.  I have a few more panels in my fabric stash that I will use over the next few months.  Don't let panels frighten you, they can be our friends.
