Liberty 1776-2026

 Finally completed the Hear Ye, Hear Ye pattern by Wendy Sheppard that I was intending to have done by the 4th.  However, it is still July so I am calling that a win. I purchased the pattern from Angie at the Sunflower Quilt Company in Axtell Utah.  I called this one "Liberty 1776-2026".

I used assorted fabrics for the stars & bell and the background is Cloud from Riley Blake Designs.  I don't usually use a solid in my background but I had the bolt of fabric and it worked for this quilt.  The backing is from the American Honor line from Riley Blake Designs.  Those stars took a while to complete but it was worth the hours at the cutting board and machine.

The quilt finished at approximately 61" x 77".  I quilted it with an edge to edge pantograph called Paisley Sunrise from Quilting Pantographs using Glide thread in the color Linen.

I am currently working on a 3-yard quilt pattern which will not take as long as these stars took to make.  Off we go into the quilt studio.

 Happy July 4th! I get sappy especially during patriotic days especially after taking out my citizenship in 2010. Every patriotic song makes me tear up. Hung a couple of my quilts on the front porch to brighten up the area. God Bless America!

American Honor II

 The third and final quilt using panels from the American Honor fabric line by Vicki Gifford for Riley Blake Designs.  The pattern is called Stars & Honor by Needle in a Hayes Stack.

I machine quilted this one with an edge to edge design called Live Wire by Meredith England.  I have had this design for many years (long before even having my longarm).  I just copy designs in a smaller format to work with my Brother 1500 on my Grace Start Right frame.  I did use my King Quilter 18 longarm for this quilt so the design was enlarged to fill more space in a row of quilting.  I used Glide thread in the color Linen.

The quilt finished at approximately 53" x 64" and is machine bound.  I called this one American Honor II as I utilized two of the same soldier panels for my projects.

As we enjoy our patriotic holidays this year let us keep in mind those men and women who have served and are currently serving this great nation in the military.  We cannot leave out their dear ones who wait patiently for them to return home.

 I really love the colors in this fabric line called Oh My Gourd by Danielle Leone for Wilmington Printss.  I purchased the 10" square pack (commonly known as a layer cake or 10 Karat Crystals).  I also purchased some yardage to add a border to the Picket Fence pattern from Busy Hands Quilts.  I purchased the pattern and fabrics from The Quilt Shop at Christensen's in Richfield UT.  The backing was a bolt that I had purchased a few years ago and it is Awesome Autumn by Sandy Gervais for Riley Blake Designs.  It worked perfectly for this backing as the colors and the acorn print went so well with the quilt top fabrics.

I machine quilted this quilt with a pantograph called English Oak from Urban Elementz using Glide thread in the color Cleopatra.  I machine bound the quilt and made the label.  I also used one of my new label tags from Jammin Threads through Amazon.  I called this one Gourdeous in keeping with the fabric line name.

The quilt is approximately 67" x 86".  Hubby asked if this one will be for sale but I am still thinking about that.  I made a matching pillowcase as well.

Eagle's Honor

 This panel is one of two from Riley Blake line called American Honor.  I used fabrics from the line in piecing of the top as well as the backing.  I had made a mis-cut on the panel so I added the flag fabric to the top and bottom of the panel to bring it back to the size that I needed for this pattern. So if you make a mistake it can become a design change.......no worries.

The quilt is approximately 52" x 64".  I machine quilted this one using my Brother 1500 machine on the Grace Start Right frame.  Sometimes free motion quilting is very relaxing.  Just go where the machine takes you.  I called this quilt "Eagle's Honor".

The quilt pattern is from Needle In A Hayes Stack for Riley Blake Designs.  I have one more panel quilt in this line that is ready for quilting on the longarm.

American Honor

 The panel is one of two from Riley Blake line called American Honor.  I used fabrics from the line in the piecing of the top as well as the backing.  The quilt is approximately 52" x 64".  I machine quilted this one with a pantograph called Starz and Hearts from Urban Elementz using Glide thread in the color Linen.

The quilt pattern is from Needle In A Hayes Stack for Riley Blake Designs.  I have two more panels to use in quilts using the same pattern.  It was a well written pattern and went together fairly easily.

I named this quilt after the fabric line - American Honor.

Love You 'Til The Cows Come Home #2 & #3

 I had purchased 3 of the panels as it was so darn cute!  The first quilt that I made was for our new great granddaughter, Julie Jean.  These next two panel quilts used some different coordinating fabrics with the plaid 2nd border being just an inch larger than the other two quilts.  I used the same pattern from Fabric Cafe called Ribbons & Bows with some modifications to work for these panels.  Whenever I modify a pattern I will typically put my notes with the original pattern so I can duplicate the changes that I made.  After all, I had to use those brain cells to do the math to make it work with these larger panels!

I backed both quilts with the same flannel that I used on Julie Jean's quilt.  It is soft and works so well with the colors on the quilt.  I machine bound these two quilts and did not name them as I think the panel says it all.  My labels on these quilts do have my name as well as the year made.  I machine quilted them with the same pantograph called Love Knot from Urban Elementz.  It is the perfect pantograph for these quilts.  I used Glide thread in the color Linen for the quilting.

These quilts will be for sale.  Even though one of them is an inch or so larger than the other quilt I will price them the same.

Number 1: this one uses the beautiful plaid in the fabric line as the background for the pink ribbon to show off.  I also used the plaid fabric as the binding.  This one finished at approximately 51" x 61".

Number 2: this one uses the "burlap" floral print as the ribbon and is set off by the beautiful blue polka dot fabric.  Both fabrics are from the coordinating line for the panel.  I used the blue polka dot fabric on this one as the binding.  This one finished at approximately 50" x 60".

Julie Jean

 I saw this panel and beautiful coordinating fabrics from Timeless Treasures and knew that this would be the fabric to use for our new great granddaughter, Julie Jean.  She is a month old today and we cannot wait to see her in real life and hear her little cooing sounds and cuddle her sweet little body in our arms.

The pattern is from Fabric Cafe and is called Ribbons & Bows.  I modified the pattern to use additional fabric on the inner border of the panel.  I backed it with soft cuddly flannel.  The machine quilting pattern is called Love Knot from Urban Elementz using Glide thread in the color Linen.

The quilt is approximately 50" x 60" and is hand bound.  Yes, hand bound as my first great grandchild deserves no less.

I will be making 2 more of these quilts which will be for sale.  The panel is just too adorable to only make one special quilt.

Under Utah Skies

 Fun new fabric in at The Quilt Shop at Christensen's - Utah by Kelsey Carlson for Riley Blake Fabrics.  We also have a quick quilt pattern called Stargazer by Running Doe Quilts for Villa Rosa Designs.  One note to make - the pattern called for 15 Fat Quarters for the background but it should read 16 Fat Quarters per Villa Rosa Designs webpage.  I pulled 2 extra FQ's from my stash for a little variety on the background.  Glad I found this printing error and had fabric to match it (sort of).

The backing fabric is also from Riley Blake and was gifted to me by a neighbor (thank you Deb Camp!) and worked very well for this quilt.

I machine quilted this one with an edge to edge pantograph called "Curly Twirly" from Quilting Pantographs using Glide thread in the color Sand Dune.

The quilt finished at approximately 62" x 76".  I machine bound it using the same fabric that I used for the backing.  I named this quilt "Under Utah Skies".

Next project up will be new table runners for my living room.

Winter Magic

 An eventful day yesterday.  Our first great grandchild was born - Julie Jean Bevilockway 7lbs 2 oz and 20" long.  What a blessing for our family.

I also completed the Evergreen quilt from Cluck Cluck Sew.  I added a small outer border to the pattern as I like borders on my quilts.  I used an assortment of Christmas fabrics for the top and backed it with Christmas Gnomes Snow Globe Toss fabric from P & B Textiles.  The quilt finished at approximately 73" x 98".

I machine quilted it with an edge to edge pantograph called Christmas Ornaments Tear Drop from Quilting Pantographs using Glide thread in the color Cool Grey 3.

I called this one "Winter Magic".  It just seemed appropriate for the magical day it turned out to be.

When I first saw the pattern it was one of our customer's quilts that we quilted at The Quilt Shop at Christensen's and I knew I had to buy the pattern and make it.  As my Christmas fabric collection is fairly large I knew I would have enough variety to make this quilt a fun one.  I already had someone in mind who will receive this one.  I had made all of her sisters their own quilts and left this one for last for no other reason than that's just the way it worked out.  I hope she enjoys this quilt for years to come.  My quilts are meant to be used and loved and worn out.  Then we can make a new one!!!

To Market We Go

 Once upon a time, a long long time ago, there was a little redheaded girl who loved "helping" her Nannie & Daa on their farm.  There were several times she was allowed to go to the farmers market in Hagersville ON and again "help" with the produce.  Yes, that little girl was me.  I still remember helping fill the green bean baskets and smelling the wonderful aromas of fresh produce and homemade breads.  I cherish those memories.

When I saw the fat quarter bundle, which also included the farm panel, I knew I had to make something with it.  The fabric is called Happy Day Farm by Dan DiPaolo for Clothworks.  This bundle contains a wonderful fabric line and sewed together beautifully.  My co-worker suggested the Turning Twenty pattern (by Tricia Gibbs) which has a finished 16" block which is what I wanted for this quilt.  Luckily I had the book and used 14 of the 16 included fat quarters to make the required number of blocks.  (Just set the other 2 fat quarters to the side as you will use them in the quilt in the outer border & corner stones).  I added borders to the panel to make the quilt a nice 71" x 83" finished quilt.  I backed the quilt with a piece from Miniature Gatherings by Primitive Gatherings for Moda.  The backing was a piece from my stash and worked so well with the fat quarter bundle.

The quilt came together quickly.  I machine quilted it with an edge to edge pantograph called Inkblot from Urban Elementz using Glide thread in the colors Thyme on top & Black in the bobbin.

I called this quilt "To Market We Go".

Dutch Knots

 I purchased a 10" precut pack of Kaffe Fasset's Collective for Free Spirit and knew this was the quilt pattern that I wanted to use.  The pattern was designed by Elise Lea for Robert Kaufman Fabrics and is called Dutch Braid. By the way, it is a free pattern!

I named the quilt Dutch Knots as the block reminded me of knotted friendship bracelets.  The pattern was very easy to follow and I only needed to add a dark fabric, light fabric background, and a border using one of the fabrics from the Kaffe Fasset's line.

I machine quilted this one with an edge to edge pantograph called Fern from Urban Elementz using Glide thread in the color Mulberry.  The backing is from the Zen line by Sue Zipkin for Clothworks.  I machine bound the project using the same fabric as the backing.

The quilt finished at approximately 61" x 75".

This is my first quilt finish for 2026.  Many more projects waiting in the wings.

Paddling Bears

Completed the final quilt of 2025 just in time!  It has been a busy month with working, shopping, taking care of business, birthdays, and holidays.

I found this cute pattern called Paddling Bears by Coach House Designs.  I have been saving pieces of plaid fabrics and knew they needed to be used in this quilt pattern.  The quilt ended up being approximately 66" x 72".  I backed it with a fun flannel fabric from the Cabin Fever line by Sugar Sisters Designs for Moda Fabrics.

I quilted this one with an edge to edge pantograph called Nylon by Urban Elementz using Glide thread in the color Bark.

I am currently working on a new quilt using some bold fabrics.  Seems like a good way to ring in the New Year.

Making A List; Checking It Twice

While on vacation last month my friend Jo and I visited a local quilt shop in old town Kingman AZ.  It is a lovely little shop called Connie's Quilters Hide-A-Way with the charm of the old downtown as one would expect. I saw the Santa panel by Larry Hersberger for QT Fabrics and knew that I needed to bring it home.  Yes, I bought 2 panels and a plethora of fabrics that may or may not work with my idea to bring the panel to life.

I purchased a bolt of Swiss Dot Gold by Riley Blake Designs as I knew it would be perfect for the ribbon border background.  Thank you The Quilt Shop at Christensen's for ordering that bolt for me.

I backed both quilts with a Christmas plaid and machine quilted an edge to edge pantograph called Scrollwork from Urban Elementz with Glide thread in the color Kakhi.  The quilts finished at approximately 62" x 69".

I used a gold fabric for the ribbon border in the first quilt which I named "Making A List".

I used a red fabric for the ribbon border in the second quilt which I named "Checking It Twice".

Don't you just love creating something special for Christmas!!!!!!!

Glad Tidings

 This quilt has been waiting in the wings for a couple of years.  The pattern is called "Tradewinds" by Georgette Dell'Orco for Cozy Quilt Designs.  It is a jelly friendly pattern and I just happened to have 2 jelly rolls of the Holiday Charms Scarlet Colorstory from Robert Kaufman Fabrics.  The background fabric is from Precious Metals by Kansas for Benartex.  The stripped border is Snowy Tidings by Lola Molina for Wilmington Prints.  The backing is Urban Legend 118 from Blank Quilting.  

The quilt is approximately 73" x 89".  I machine quilted this one with an edge to edge pantograph from Urban Elementz called Scrollwork using Glide thread in the color Cool Grey.  I used the remaining jelly roll strips as the binding.

Little Ghost & Sweet Santa

 It has been a very busy few weeks around the homestead.  Winterizing the yard; taking up the hoses and sprinklers when the irrigation water was turned off; preparing for an adventure; working; as well as trying to spend time at the sewing machine.

The first quilt to be done this month is called "Little Ghost" by Hailey Young.  This is a free pattern that Hailey has shared on the internet and I knew I wanted to make it for our new great grandchild due this next year.  I also purchased the books that go along with the quilt.  I didn't give the quilt it's own name as Little Ghost is perfect for the quilt.  The top uses 2 charm packs from Into the Woods by Wilmington.  The backing (which is a soft green but didn't come through the photo as lovely as it is in real life) is from the Essentials line from Dry Brush Dots for Wilimington.  I can picture the stories being read to the little one even before she is born.  She is going to be and already is well loved.  I machine quilted the quilt using a pantograph called Live Wire by Meredith England using Connecting Threads cotton thread in the color Sapling.  I hand bound this quilt.

The second quilt is using new fabrics that we got in at the store.  For those that don't know I am now doing some longarm quilting at The Quilt Shop at Christensen's in Richfield UT.  The panel and coordinating fabrics are from More Christmas Wishes by RBD Designs.  The backing is a piece of fabric that I had purchased a couple of years ago and is from the Holiday collection from Timeless Treasures of SoHo LLC.  I love the gold woven into the plaid.  I modified the Ribbons & Bows pattern from the Fabric Cafe to work with this panel as I did not want to cut this panel down to the size used in the pattern.  A little bit of math and a lot of luck and it worked!  I machine quilted this quilt with a pantograph called Scrollwork from Urban Elementz using Glide thread in the color Cool Grey.  I hand bound this quilt as well.   I named this quilt "Sweet Santa" as I really like the vintage feel to this jolly ol elf.  The quilt measures 52" x 64".

Pastiche Elegance

 I am finally working on reducing some bolts of fabric from my stash.  Yes, it may only be two down but that's just fine.  The focus fabric in this quilt is Pastiche by Jason Yenter for In The Beginning Fabrics.  The apricot fabric is is Apricot Linen from Hoffman fabrics and the turquoise fabric is Aunt Grace from Marcus Fabrics.  The quilt pattern is called Elegance from the Big Block 3-Yard Quilts by Fabric Cafe.

I really like the way the pattern comes together and creates the secondary pattern at the corners of the blocks.  I made the queen size which ended up being 87" x 96".  I did not have enough of the Aunt Grace fabric to make a larger outer border.  As I wanted this quilt to have a similar look to older quilts (where the quilter would fold over the backing as a binding) I matched the binding to the outer border using the turquoise fabric.  The binding is machine bound.

I machine quilted this quilt with an edge to edge pantograph called Fern from Urban Elementz.  I used Glide thread in the color Cool Grey.

This quilt does not quite fit our king size bed so it will be up for sale at a sale price of $350 as I had purchased the fabric on sale.  

I have 3 baskets of quilts ready in the wings to be made.  As I am now doing long arm quilting for The Quilt Shop at Christensens in Richfield UT my quilting time at home may be trimmed down.

By the way did you know that the word Pastiche means: an artistic work in a style that imitates that of another work, artist or period?  I did not so I had to look it up.  I learned something new today!

BOOdles of Fun

 When you have some leftover pieces from your last quilt and you don't want to put them in the "scrap drawer" you use your GO me cutter from Accuquilt.  I do have the full size Studio cutter but the little one sits by my sewing area so I can easily cut fabric remnants into usable pieces and put them into a container to use when the mood hits me.  I had enough pieces cut using the Home Sweet Haunt by Stacey Iest Hau for Moda Fabrics to make this 51" x 58" quilt.  I had a bolt of Halloween fabric that worked very well for the backing.  I used some of my black grunge fabric stash for the inner border.

I also decided to make a fun label for this one.  A simple ghost outline cut around the embroidered information and voi​là!

I quilted this one with the edge to edge pantograph called Twisted Spiderwebs from Quilting Pantographs using Glide thread in the color Linen.

Next - cutting out more quilts including one for a class I will be taking at the Quilter's Heritage Festival in October.

Home Sweet Haunt

 When I saw the new Halloween line called "Home Sweet Haunt" at Sunflower Quilt Shop in Axtell UT,  I had a design in mind that this would be perfect for.  This line was designed by Stacey Iest Hsu for Moda Fabrics and included two panels with dolls & accessories.  Yes, I made the dolls as well.  As we all know fabric prices have been on the rise since 2019 so I have to really like the fabric line or know others who might be interested in a finished quilt using the line.

I knew I wanted to use the doll panels in blocks on this quilt so that determined the finished block size.  It is a nice 18" block using 9 of the fabric pieces from the line for the main blocks together with a background fabric from the line. I designed the 6 x 6 blocks which the doll pieces ended up on using the remaining fabric from those 9 pieces used in the star block.  The star block was an adaption from one in a It's Sew Emma pattern book called "Simply Half Yards Quilt Book" and just happened to be the right size for the alternate block.  

I added a small black inner border and a nice 5 1/2" outer border to finish the quilt at approximately 69" x 87".  I knew I had to use the back pieces of the dolls somewhere so they are residing on the backing of this quilt.  Sometimes it's just fun to do something outside the box.  The backing fabric is also from the same line of fabric.  I made a label for the quilt and named it after the fabric line "Home Sweet Haunt".

I machine quilted this quilt with a pattern called Tangled Spiderwebs from Quilting Pantographs using Glide Thread in the color Linen.

This quilt is for sale and I will be making a matching pillowcase. You all may now be aware that I do not like wrapping items, especially if they will fit in a pillowcase 😀
