Bear Paw Lodge

Just finished this quilt for my niece, Rosemary.  She mentioned that the last quilt that I had made for her was for her wedding which was several years ago.  She said that they love the outdoors, moose, elk, etc.  I designed this quilt specifically for her.  I used fabrics from the Bittersweet collection from Kansas Troubles with additional fabric that I had on hand from Kansas Troubles.  I love these fabrics.  They remind me of the outdoors and have such a "homey" feeling.

I designed the one row to include some moose, trees, and stars.  After all, part of loving the outdoors is loving the heavenly sky above the great outdoors.

The quilt finished at approximately 83" x 83".  It is backed with a cuddle soft flannel which is so outdoorsy looking it just made me happy throughout the process.

Though the quilt was technically finished today I am counting it as the first quilt of 2022.

I hope she loves it as much as I do.

Finished at approximately 83" x 83"

I designed the moose/tree/star row.

The name of the quilt is Bear Paw Lodge.
It is machine quilted with an edge to edge
pantograph called Combo.  I quilted
it with Turkey Red thread.
Hand bound with love.

Merry & Bright

I had this fabulous fabric (fat quarter bundle & yardage) gifted to me.  It is the Merry & Bright line by Me & My Sister for Moda Fabrics.  I was so blessed with this gift and knew I had to whip up a quilt with it before this year ended.

I used the Original Turning Twenty Just Got Better pattern by Tricia Cribbs.  The design comes from the layout of the half square triangle blocks that are created by using one basic block & cutting it on the diagonal & sewing the half square triangles together.  In order to create the design on this quilt I chose to use the 8 green fat quarters that were in the fat quarter bundle which would give me enough blocks to create the zig zag & 3 green blocks on the quilt.  This is the third time that I have used this pattern this year but used different layouts each time.

This is a quick, fun, and I think lovely quilt pattern.  I used 3 fat quarters to create the scrappy look binding.  I call this quilt "Merry & Bright" after the fabric line.  It finished at approximately 75" x 90". Thank you Marcia Nielsen for gifting the glittery embroidery thread which I used on the label.  A huge thank you to Randi Deem for feeding my creative juices!!

I hope you enjoy looking at this quilt as much as I do.

Merry Christmas to all and may God keep you and bless you always.

Monkey Mates

I needed to use some 2 1/2" strips that I had left over from other projects & knew I wanted to make another Bonfire quilt by Scott Flannigan.  The pattern is in the Oct/Nov 2018 McCall's Quick Quilts magazine (page 36).  I used a bright stripe fabric on the border and backing which is called "Monkey Mates" from Marcus Brothers Fabrics.  That became the name of this quilt.  I also made a matching pillowcase for it as I had extra fabric.  The quilt finished at approximately 72" x 92" which is a nice twin size quilt.  I used a Swirl pantograph to quilt the quilt.

It is always fun to see what happens when I dig out some pieces from one of my scrap bins.  It is a fun quilt!

Finished at approximately 72" x 92"

Label attached.  "Monkey Mates" named
for the fabric used on the border and backing.
