Final Quilt of 2016

I had not planned on making any more quilts this month.  However, I had these last 6 wildlife squares that I had left from other projects and they have been sitting in my studio mocking me for over a year now.  So, I pulled a piece of plaid flannel out of the closet and some tan flannel and whipped this easy quilt together.  I can no longer be mocked by those wildlife panels.  Hooray!!

The quilt finished at about 59" x 73".  Just the right size for someone to snuggle into with a cup of hot cocoa and a good book.  Ah, I can picture it now.

I named this one "Pine Ridge".  I machine quilted this quilt with an over all loop design.  Very fast and easy (as it had to be done by the end of the year!).  This quilt is also stored in it's own pillow case.

Cannot wait to start 2017 with a new quilt project.  I have not decided on the pattern yet, but you can bet I will be throwing in a scrappy quilt somewhere in the near future.

May your New Year be bright and may many blessings flow to you and yours.  With best wishes from Scrappyendings & Co.

Love the plaid flannel!

Up close and personal.

Label: Pine Ridge

It's own pillowcase.

Treasure Number Two Found Yesterday

OK, this little treasure has been cleaned, serviced, adjusted, and is ready to sew up a storm.  The cabinet is is great condition too.  This is a White Model 675.  It is circa mid 1960's.  I actually had the newer model in the early 1970"s and loved it.  It was a work horse.  I ended up trading it in for a Riccar 888 which I used and wore out after 30 years.

This baby was only $25, cabinet and all.

I have been very lucky with my thrifting finds this year.

She's a beauty.

Cabinet is in great shape too.

Treasure Number One Found Today

Had a surprisingly great time at the local thrift store (Deseret Industries) on my lunch hour with hubby.  Found two (yes TWO!!!!) great finds.

I will post the first one tonight.  This little gem was found hiding on a lower shelf.  When I opened the case my heart started to pound.  What is this!!!!

After cleaning, servicing, and adjustments this jewel sews like dream.  She didn't have any bobbins or attachments, but wouldn't you know, I have a stash of the bobbins that I need for her.

Looked up the serial number on the Singer site and found that she is a Model 328K made May 21, 1962 in Clydebank Scotland.  I couldn't find a machine the same color as this one but the serial number gave me the model, date, and place she was manufactured.

Ah, life is sweet.  Especially when she was a whopping ..........$12!  (Insert happy dance here)

Can't wait to service the next great find.  But no info on that little puppy until I have completed the service on it.

She is all set to sew some quilt blocks!

Case is in good shape.  The leather handle is cracked, but I can live with that.

Fun Time

I am one of those people who cannot throw scraps of fabric out.  I do limit myself to nothing smaller than 1.5 inches.  After all, a girl has to set some standards by which to control her stash.

Anyway, I had just enough 6 inch flannel squares that were the remaining scraps from making my grandsons PJ's for Christmas.  Ended up with this little ditty.  It's 66" x 66".  I am a border gal, but I had just enough of the dino & polka dot flannel to make the backing.  That is what determined my not putting borders on this quilt.

I named it "Fun Time" because my grand daughter loves to take quilts and make "forts" and "tents" out of them.  I remember doing the same thing in my youth.  Yes, we had quilts back then smarty pants.

Also made a pillow case to store the quilt in.  I know this little quilt will eventually find the home it was made for.  My quilts usually do.

Merry Christmas to all and may God bless your lives this coming year.

Soft and cuddly and ready for use. 66" x 66"

Pieced backing and binding.

St. Luke 2: 8 - 11

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
