Home of the Brave

Finished putting my label on the Americana print quilt last night.  I used the Americana layer cake packet (10" squares) as the base of the quilt purchased from Keepsake Quilting.  I then added the blue border and the appliqued stars.  Needed to come up with a machine quilting pattern so I designed my "Fractured Stars" pantograph.  This is an edge to edge free motion pattern and it was fun to do.  Of course I had to use the one lonely star that was left over from the border in my label.  Sometimes the names of the quilts are with me from the very inception, however, this one didn't come to me until it was fully quilted.  I just knew I had to name it "Home of the brave".  Next quilt is soon to be cut out.  Hope everyone has a great week and keep on sharing with those around you.

Still Quilting

Today I loaded the split layer cake Americana print quilt onto the frame for machine quilting.  Bought a cone of blue thread at a 50% off sale at a little quilt store in St. George, Utah.  Had to pick up some more bobbins for my Brother 1500 sewing machine while I was there.  I will post photos upon completion.  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend & find something to do for someone else & get that feel good feeling!

Would you like to swing on a star.....

Found this wonderful panel on sale & had the green & the striped fabric already.  I adore the song that runs through the quilt, "Would you like to swing on a star.  Carry moonbeams home in a jar...."  I grew up listening to this song so the song ran through my mind while I worked on this project.  I actually made it for a soon to be new arrival in our little town.  Next project is a quick & easy split layer cake in Americana fabric.  Hope everyone is having a great St. Patrick's Day.  Corned beef is cooking away!

Baby Boy Quilts

Finished my great nephew's quilt & five other little boy quilts.  These were quick and easy as I used my Brother to machine quilt them.  I sewed the binding on the five quilts with a machine stitch but I did hand stitch the binding on my great nephew's quilt.  After all, he will be a very special addition.  I have a little girl quilt panel that I need to add borders on & then I can get it quilted.  I am trying to decide what quilt to piece next.  Maybe I will start on my county fair quilt.  Have fun with whatever it is that you enjoy doing!

March Block of the Month from Craftsy

Taking this week off of work for vacation.  Visited with the kids in Fruita, Colorado on Monday to Wednesday.  Glad I arrived home yesterday afternoon before the snow storm hit.  We have 6 inches or more of new snow.  Also glad to see that the block of the month from Craftsy was available.  I made them today as it was a great day to stay indoors.  Also put a baby quilt on the quilting frame & managed to get some housework done too.  I hope everyone is safe and warm.  Hopefully some of you will be quilting too!
On the left (pink) is the String block & on the right (yellow/green) is the Broken Spiderweb Block.
